Fine old collectors piece. Collected in 1960’s this is a massive vintage African mask from the Pende, Congo. Hand carved from a single piece of wood, with color pigments, braided raffia fibres, rattan, abrus beans, cowrie shells and cloth. Back construction from basketwork. Usage traces and drying cracks. Beautiful patina. Has a few beads and shells missing but does not detract from this beautiful mask.
